Sexually transmitted diseases are an important part of the Infectious Diseases specialty. However, STDs/STIs often present in the setting of primary care, urgent care or via a health department or underserved community clinic; thus encountering STIs as part of an ID subspecialty inpatient consult service or outpatient specialty clinic may be limited.
